Black Bean Brownies

These are delicious chocolaty brownies that are naturally gluten free because they are made with black beans. They only have 109 calories per brownie, 3g of fat, and 2.5g of protein. They are sure to hit the spot when you are craving a chocolatey treat!

Makes approx. 16 brownies

Ingredients:

  • 1 can black beans drained and rinsed

  • 1/2 cup of apple sauce

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions:

 

1) Preheat oven to 350°

2) Place beans in blender with applesauce, eggs, maple syrup, and vanilla and blend. If you do not have a blender you can use a hand mixer.

 

3) Add in sugar, cocoa, baking powder, and salt and blend to combine. 

4) Add in the chocolate chips and stir by hand

 

5) Spray a 8x8 baking pan and then pour batter into pan

6) Bake for 30 minutes, or until edges have hardened. Allow brownies to cool for at least 20 minutes before cutting and removing from pan. 

7) Enjoy!
